The wine refrigerator has two wire racks that can hold four wine bottles each. These are scalloped to keep the bottles from rolling over and disturbing the wine sediments inside which could adversely affect the wine’s aroma and flavor.
The bottom shelf, which can hold an additional five bottles arranged along the width of the refrigerator, also has a rack that keeps the bottles from rolling. All racks are plated with chrome, making them shine against the backdrop of the black interior walls.
Featuring a black cabinet with a glass door framed in stainless steel, the WC-2053 wine cellar makes a fine addition to your kitchen countertop. It sports a contemporary look that matches your other countertop appliance. Mounted on the frame is a stainless steel towel-rack style door handle.
The glass door is dual paned, which provides excellent insulation, keeping warm air from seeping into the refrigerator and preventing cold air from leaking out.
Relying on compressor technology, the wine cellar can be cooled down to 39°F to 64°F, which means you can store all types of wines, from sweet dessert wines, through sparkling wines, white wines, to red wines. Temperature is adjusted using buttons on a control panel mounted at the top frame of the door.
Although it uses a compressor, it eschews hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and chlorofluorocarbons (FCKW) making it less harmful to the ozone layer. Unlike other compressor-based wine refrigerators, noise generated by the WC-2053 is quite low.
Other features of the Salton WC-2053 Countertop Wine Cellar include an interior light that illuminates the wine bottles, and feet that can be adjusted to compensate for floors with irregular surfaces.
The wine cellar does not occupy a large space on your countertop. It is only 17 inches wide and 19 inches deep, making its footprint only approximately 2¼ square feet. It is 20 inches tall.
