The distinctive feature of the Pek PVV-20 VinoVault Wine Preserving Refrigerator is its built-in injection nozzle that infuses pure argon into opened but unfinished bottles of wine. Argon is an inert noble gas that can be used to displace oxygen, thus preventing oxidation of ethanol. The argon-filled bottle can then be sealed with a Pek Click-and-Pour Stopper, and stored upright inside the refrigerator. A small window on the solid door allows you to view the label of the unfinished bottle.
The refrigerator is finished in stainless steel, making it suitable for most types of kitchen décor. A blue LED display above the glass window shows the temperature inside the refrigerator either in Celsius or Fahrenheit. The interior cabinet is colored black and has four wood wine racks to cradle your wine. These, along with the space for the upright bottle, can carry a total of 14 bottles.
The Pek PVV-20 VinoVault Wine Preserving Refrigerator utilizes state-of-the-art heat pipe technology for its cooling mechanism. This system relies on heat pipes containing a working fluid that alternately vaporizes into its gas form and condenses into it liquid state. This process continually absorbs and dissipates thermal energy thereby cooling the interior of the refrigerator. As this system does not have many moving parts, it operates quietly without any perceptible vibration.
Precise temperature setting is possible with the adjustable thermostat. It can be set to a low temperature of 45°F for your Champagne, Cava, or Asti; through 55°F for Madeira, Chinon, or Chianti; to 65°F for Shiraz, Rhone wines, or Burgundy.
The refrigerator measures 19″ H x 17″ W x 22″ D, thus occupying slightly over 4 square feet on your counter.
