Standing like a tall tower, the Koolatron WC18 Wine Cooler is a freestanding refrigerator that can accommodate 18 750mL bottles of your favorite wines, whether red, rosé, white, or sparkling. Owing to its two independent cooling zones, you can store any two of these types of wine.
The upper cooling zone has two wire racks and a fixed shelf. This shelf is actually the divider between the two zones. The bottom zone has five racks and also a fixed shelf. All racks are scalloped to keep the wine bottles from moving from side to side. They are also removable for easy cleaning. Each of these racks can hold two bottles.
Temperature in the upper zone ranges from 44.6° – 53.6°F, while in the lower, this ranges from 53.6° – 64.4°F. This means that white and sparkling wines are chilled in the upper zone, while the rosés and reds are stored in the lower.
These temperature levels are attained with a thermoelectric cooling system. Since the system does not employ a compressor with a refrigerant and has only a few moving parts, it is environmentally friendly, quiet, and vibration-free. This last feature also helps keep the bottles and the sediments inside free from agitation that could adversely affect the wine.
The cabinet body is colored black which is a perfect complement to the silver trim of the doors, one door for each zone. The frames are beveled thus softening the edges. They hold glass doors that, along with the interior lights, allow the showcasing of your wine bottles. The lights produce a glowing aura around the bottles which is emphasized by the dark interior.
Above the top door frame is the control panel that features touch pad buttons that turn the interior lights on or off, switch the display from Celsius to Fahrenheit or vice versa, set temperature levels in the two zones, and the two digital temperature displays for each of the two cooling zones.
The Koolatron WC18 Wine Cooler stands 40.5″, with a depth of 21″ and 10.25″. It weighs roughly 45 lbs.
