There certainly are benefits of having your own wine cellar right on your kitchen countertop. Apart from having an appropriately chilled bottle of wine readily available at dinner, a wine cooler can also be an attractive accent in your kitchen or dining room. The Cuisinart Private Reserve Wine Cellar Model CWC 900 is a perfect example of such a functional accent.
The Cuisinart CWC 900 is functional because it can store 11 bottles of your favorite wine in temperatures suited to them. It utilizes a solid state thermoelectric system which means that it is a quiet and vibration-free wine cooler. The reason for this is thermoelectric cooling does not use a compressor and has a minimum of moving parts. Also, no harmful CFCs or HCFCs are used making the cooler environmentally friendly.
An electronic thermostat with an LED display allows manual resetting of the temperature. This ranges from 45 to 68F° which means that champagne, sparkling wines as well as whites and reds can be chilled in the CWC 900. In addition to manual setting, the cooler features 8 preset levels in case you can’t remember the right temperature for your Bordeaux or Chardonnay. And if you are not yet comfortable with metrication, you can set the LED to indicate the temperature in either Celsius or Fahrenheit.
The wine bottles are held in three chrome racks with an undulating design intended to keep the bottles from moving, thus maintaining the stillness of the wine sediments. With the help of an interior light you can see inside the wine cooler through the double-paned glass door. This serves the dual function of insulating the cooler and showcasing your wine collection.
The Cuisinart CWC 900, at approximately 20″ W x 18″ H x 18″ D, occupies about the same space as a microwave oven. It comes in a stainless steel design which adds character to any kitchen.
