The EWC4001DZ is a dual zone wine cooler that can accommodate 40 bottles. There are eight shelves, three of which are in the upper zone and five in the lower, which can each carry five wine bottles. Seven of the shelves are made of chrome-plated scalloped wire that can be pulled out, while the divider between the two sections doubles as the eighth. The bottles are lighted by an interior lamp that can either be turned on continuously to showcase your wine collection, or set to light up only when you open the door.
Temperature in the upper zone can be adjusted from 43° to 51°F making it the section for your sparkling, light- and medium-bodied white wines. The lower area, on the other hand, has a temperature range of 52° to 64°F, levels which are recommended for full-bodied whites and all types of reds. Soft-touch controls and an electronic display mounted on the divider enable temperature adjustment.
Cooling is achieved by a solid state thermoelectric system that does not have a compressor nor use harmful chlorofluorocarbons. It is also vibration-free as it has very few moving parts, a feature that is important because it assures that the wine sediments are not agitated. An auto defrost feature is installed to prevent the build up of ice.
